A conceptual photo series was created for the special issue of Hochparterre magazine about the Swiss industrial designer Andreas Christen (1936-2006). It stages a selection of his pioneering designs on an unusual pedestal: colored Euro pallets.
Christen was inspired early on by industrial manufacturing processes and made them an essential part of his design philosophy. The combination of his delicate furniture with the robust, standardized pallets is therefore more than just a visual contrast. It reflects Christen's striving for efficiency - in his choice of materials, production and logistics. His minimalist forms, influenced by industry, meet a symbol for the rational transportation of goods.
This multi-layered dialog between object and environment reveals the core of Christen's innovative approach. At the same time, the unconventional staging allows his timeless aesthetic to be experienced in a new way.
